Product Selection & Approvals
Are GLYSANTIN® products backwards compatible?
GLYSANTIN® products are not backwards compatible. Please use the product specified in the orientation lists. This is because the technologies used are not compatible. One exception are cars manufactured by Volvo. Volvo Cars tested and confirmed the compatibility of GLYSANTIN® G64® with older engine generations.
How do engine coolants affect the motor manufacturer's warranty?
Officially approved engine coolants can be changed during the warranty period without affecting the engine manufacturer’s warranty. However, filling the cooling system with coolant, cooling fluids or antifreeze that have not been approved during the warranty period can render the manufacturer’s warranty invalid.
What do names like G11 or G12+ mean?
Those are product names of the Volkswagen Group. Please find the respective GLYSANTIN® products below.
GLYSANTIN® G48®-->VW G11
GLYSANTIN® G30®-->VW G12+

Is there a universal GLYSANTIN® coolant?
No! Due to the continuous changes in engine technology, it is absolutely necessary to adapt the coolant technology as well. The individual coolant technologies cannot be mixed and are not compatible with each other and should be used according to the respective engine or coolant technology.
What are the advantages of coolants that have been officially approved by vehicle manufacturers?
Vehicle manufacturers do not “recommend” any particular engine coolants, but they do grant official approvals. New vehicles are filled with approved engine coolants when they leave the factory and these can be replaced during the warranty period without affecting the manufacturer’s warranty. On average, engine coolants have to undergo thirty different tests before they are approved by the engine manufacturers. These consist of different corrosion and compatibility tests with the original components of the cooling system, but also engine and vehicle tests. Engine manufacturers do not give official approval to coolants until they have passed all the tests. The process takes three to five years and is very expensive. If any changes are made to the coolant formula, the entire approval process has to be repeated. GLYSANTIN® has the most approvals from leading vehicle manufacturers.
Where can we find approvals and recommendations for GLYSANTIN® for cars or heavy goods vehicles (HGV/LCV)?

For BMW vehicles built in 2019 or later, we recommend the green GLYSANTIN® G64® in the 1-liter can. Follow “Buy GLYSANTIN” to find sales partners in your area.
For older BMWs, you can use GLYSANTIN® G64® or G48®. Do not mix the two products as they contain different inhibitors. Mixing can affect performance and reduce corrosion protection.
Empty the cooling system before refilling and optionally flush it with a 15% GLYSANTIN® mixture. Then top up with the new product at a 50/50 concentration to ensure an optimum ride.
